Your voice matters to us

We value your feedback because it helps us improve healthcare services for everyone. There are many ways you can share your thoughts and experiences – from quick testimonials and video interviews to joining Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) groups or advocacy events. Whether you want to comment on your care, help shape research, or influence service improvements, your input makes a real difference.

Why feedback is important

Improves Relevance and Quality

Involving patients and the public helps ensure that healthcare services and research address real-world needs, priorities, and concerns.

Builds Trust and Transparency

Engagement fosters open communication and trust between healthcare providers, researchers, and communities.

Promotes Equity and Inclusion

PPIE helps amplify diverse voices, especially from underrepresented or marginalised groups, leading to more inclusive and fair healthcare solutions.

Patient Voices Network

Join our Patient Voices Network and help shape better healthcare. By sharing your experiences, ideas, and feedback, you can influence improvements in care and services. Whether it’s through surveys, discussions, or advocacy, your voice matters.

Once you join the Network, what happens?

Once you join the Patient Voices Network by filling in the form below, you’ll receive a copy of your completed form for your records.

We will then follow up by email or phone about the activities you’ve indicated interest in. This ensures you only hear about opportunities that matter to you. From there, you can choose whether to give consent to participate in each activity as it arises - so you always stay in control of your involvement.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Patient Voices Network

Signing up to the Network

Once you join the Patient Network by filling in the form above, you will be added to our patient network list.

You’ll receive a copy of the completed form, and we’ll follow up by email or phone about the opportunities you’ve chosen. This way, you can get involved in the activities that interest you most.

We want to make sure that everyone in our communities has an opportunity to shape the future of health and care: not just a few. That’s why it is very important to us to create a network that represents diverse perspectives across our entire area.

To help make sure we are achieving that, we ask you to provide some information about yourself and where you live.

We ask about the location to ensure that all the boroughs within the North East London area are represented and have equal opportunities to get involved. If we see there are boroughs with fewer representatives, we then know to do some more work in these areas to get people on board.

Opportunities from the Network

There are lots of ways we can work together, and the opportunities in the Network come in all shapes and sizes. When you complete the form, you can choose the types of activities you’d like to be contacted about.

Here are some of the ways you can share your voice and make a difference:

  • Share your story in a photo testimonial

Tell others about your experience with our service. You can include a photo, your name, and a short message about how the service helped you. We’ll always ask for your consent before sharing.

  • Take part in a video or interview

Join us for a recorded conversation where you share your journey and advice for others. This is a great way to inspire and inform future patients.

  • Attend events

Represent patient voices at events and discussions. If you attend on our behalf, we’ll make sure your time and contribution are valued.

  • Join a Clinical Committee that helps improve care

Be part of important decisions about how services are run. Your perspective helps ensure care is safe and effective.

  • Contribute to research and evaluation - Help make the NHS better

You’re invited to take part in a research study run by the University of Cambridge. If you take part, we will talk to you about your experiences of the coaching. By sharing your experiences, you’ll help us understand what works well and what needs to change. Everything you say will be kept private, and no one will be able to tell that you took part. The study team are not part of the coaching service (independent).

  • Get involved in Patient Public Improvement Engagement (PPIE) activities

Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) is an essential practice in healthcare research and service development. It ensures that the voices and experiences of patients and the general public are incorporated into every stage of the research process and healthcare decision-making.

Help influence healthcare research and service development by sharing your views and experiences.

Opportunities vary depending on the activity:

  • Video interviews – You can share your story at any time that works for you.
  • Other activities – These happen throughout the year. We’ll contact you when something matches your preferences, so you can choose what suits you.

You don’t need any special skills or qualifications to join the Patient Network. Your lived experience as a patient is what matters most. For some activities, like speaking at events we’ll provide support and guidance so you feel confident. You can choose the opportunities that suit your comfort level and interests.

Where possible, we offer payment or reimbursement for your time and contributions. We’ll always make it clear if an opportunity includes payment and what the amount will be.
